On Sunday 3rd November members of Wentworth Golf Club will ‘Tee Off for Breast Cancer Trials’ – an event close to the hearts of many members and their families.
A fundraising initiative of Breast Cancer Trials, Tee Off invites clubs across Australia to combine their love of golf with their passion to raise funds for breast cancer clinical trials research.
This year, breast cancer is estimated to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian women. Every day, 57 people are diagnosed, that’s 1 person every 25 minutes, and eight will lose their life to breast cancer. Wentworth Golf Club are looking forward to hosting a successful event and raising funds for trials research to identify new and effective breast cancer treatments.
Tayla Harvey, Wentworth Women’s Club Captain said the club and its members are proud to be involved in the event.
“Breast cancer has touched the lives of many of our members and their families. We’re proud to support breast cancer clinical trials research and to do this through a game of golf with friends. This event is open to members, visitors and anyone who just wants to come along and have a great day out on the course.” said Miss Harvey.
Ms Julie Callaghan, Chief Operating Officer – Fundraising and Philanthropy at Breast Cancer Trials, said the commitment and support of Wentworth Golf Club and its members is greatly appreciated.
“We rely on the generosity of community groups to continue our research to find new and better treatments for all people affected by breast cancer,” said Ms Callaghan. “We are thrilled to have the support of Wentworth Golf Club and I encourage the community to get behind their fundraising efforts because trials save lives.”
Since Tee Off began in 1996, golf clubs and their members throughout Australia have raised over $3.3 million for Breast Cancer Trials.
